About Elmira

Founded in 1855 by Simeon Benjamin, Elmira College was one of the first all women's school to give scholarly degree's equivalent to mens. Made famous by the late Olivia Landon (The wife of famous author Mark Twain), Elmira College is proud of the many traditions it upholds, including Mountain Day, May Day's and purple and gold decorations. Elmira College has always upheld a tradition of excellence, which is reflected in the wide variety of programs it has to offer. One such program being study abroad. During Term Three, students are able to go travel to a wide variety of locations, both in and out of the United States. On these term three trips, students are given a plethora of hands on learning experiences that they normally wouldn't have the ability to experience. Elmira College boasts an excellent tradition of education, and this tradition is reflected in all that the College offers to its students.
