Our second to last day in London… Where did all of the time go? We visited the
Churchill War Rooms, which was an amazing way to really expose us to what life
would have been like during World War 2. We even got a nice goody bag to
remember our visit by!! On our way to
our next stop we got to see the practice of the Trooping of the Colors for the Queen’s
birthday!! Major excitement for Professor Wolfe…while she was waiting for
everyone to exit the War Rooms she got to actually see THE QUEEN as she passed
by in her car!! Sadly, we do not have photo evidence but Professor Wolfe was
way too excited to have been making that up!! During our travels, we passed
Downing Street. Why is this important…10 Downing Street is where the Prime
Minister, David Cameron, lives! Our next stop was the Bank of England! We got
to see some of the past currencies of monarchs including King Georg, King
William and Queen Mary!! Another stop was at the Great Fire Memorial on Pudding
Lane where the Great Fire of London started. Some of us even climbed up to the
top!! Our final stop of the day was the magnificent St. Paul Cathedral, created
by the talented Christopher Wren.
Continuing the trend of climbing to the top of monuments, we climbed
over 500 steps to the top of the cathedral!! It was another experience that we
will never forget!!!
