May 5th
We started our Edinburgh adventure
with a Hop-on-Hop-off bus tour that took us through both Old Town and New Town.
Our guide did a wonderful job of giving us his own personal spin on the
historic sites of the city. After a nice lunch, we went through Hollyrood
(meaning Holy Cross) Palace which is the Queen’s official residence in Scotland.
We also went into the Queen’s Gallery which was a compilation of royal
portraits that provided an in-depth look at how royalty was depicted in picture
form. We also got to experience traditional Scottish
cuisine at the Albanach. We had a lamb dish with mashed potatoes and veggies,
and a chicken dish that was stuffed with haggis; haggis is an important
delicacy in Scotland. We completed
dinner with a raspberry cheesecake pudding for dessert.
